History of Lands at Gloucester
by Giles W. Willis, Jr. is now available. This is a valuable book for anyone researching family roots
in Gloucester. Not only does Mr. Willis describe the land ownership from the early 1700's to 1850, he
has included biographical sketches of many of the early families. The book contains copious footnotes
indicating the research material (with descriptions) used - this in itself is worth much more than the
few pennies Mr. Willis is asking for the book.
Contact Mr. Willis if you would like to purchase this book:

Word has just been received of the passing of Doris Green on Saturday, Sept. 15th. She has been brought home to Cortez, FL. The visitation will be Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. Brown Funeral home is in charge. Burial will be Wednesday.
Doris was the author of “Fog's Comin' In”, the story of the settlement of Cortez, FL, and the Fulfords who helped in that settlement and have been an integral part of that community ever since. She was the granddaughter of William Thomas Fulford, one of the group who left Carteret County, NC, and settled in Cortez.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to The Cortez Village Historical Society, PO. Box 663, Cortez, Fl 34215.

As promised, the "New Look" is now the OFFICIAL look for the Fulford Saga page. The "transportation" of info from the Old Saga has not quite been completed. We will accomplish this as rapidly as possible and will keep you abreast of developments as we have been doing. You will still be able to switch back and forth between the "New" and "Old". Simply select "Old Saga" as your country, or select "New Look" from the menu.
As of today, we have begun the process of phasing out items under the Old Saga. We will continue doing this as items are "transported" to the New Look. There will be no Update notices as this is done. Update notices will continue to be posted as items are transported to the New Look.
REMEMBER - if you changed your MindIt request to point to the New Look before today, you will need to change it again - the URL of the New Look has changed! (Ditto your bookmarks/favorites.) You were warned -
11-15-00
Unless serious objections arise between now and then, on December 1, 2000, the "New Look" will become the OFFICIAL look. You will still be able to access the "Old Look" from the Country sub-menu - for a period of time. Since no one has indicated their browser will not handle frames, the "Old Look" will be phased out - probably by the end of the year.
If you used MindIt to mark the OLD Look, you should not have to do anything to make it effective with the New Look. However, if you marked the New Look before it becomes OFFICIAL, you will have to change your MindIt option. The same applies to saving Bookmarks and/or Favorites or whatever your browser calls them.
11-02-00
The First Annual Reunion for Descendants of Carteret County, NC, Fulfords is tentatively being planned for late summer of 2001 in Charleston, SC. There is still time to sign up for attendance and/or to volunteer to help plan/organize. We will be posting Reunion Notices as time goes on.
11-02-00
All future updates to the Fulford Saga will take place under the "New Look" (see below). Be fore-warned, if you set up your MindIt option or your bookmark, favorites, or whatever to point to the "New Look" before we announce that it is THE OFFICIAL look, you will have to change it when we make the announcement.
Unless we run into a major snag, we hope to switch over to the "New Look" before the end of this month.
Coming Soon to a Screen Near You - The NEW LOOK for the Fulford Saga Pages
11-02-00
We are in the midst of revamping the Fulford Saga pages. Hopefully, this will make these pages much more "user friendly". We would appreciate feedback on the new look. Let us know if we're on the right track and/or any suggestions you have for improvements. We do ask that you take the time to read the "First Time Visitor" information which will explain the layout of the site and how to get around in it.
The only drawback we can see at this time is the fact that "Frames" are used for maneuvering from country to country and between major sections within each country. This was the only method we could come up with that would allow you select a county to work with and remain with that country as you progress from page to page. All other methods we tried required much duplication of pages and many, many more hours of work to establish and maintain - hours which we really don't have to devote to duplication of effort. We hope there aren't any visitors who are using a browser that will not handle frames. However, if there are some of you out there, please let us know. If there are a sufficient number of you, we will see if we can do anything about keeping the old site side-by-side with the new version.
Please remember, the "new look" is in the process of being developed, so you will find many options lead you to "under construction" pages. We are working as hard as we can to get everything converted, but it takes time, so please bear with us. We just wanted to give you a look at what's coming and to give you a chance to let us have your input on how it works or what would make it work better.
Test Drive the NEW Fulford Saga
(There's also a new section on the top line of options on the Old Saga front page called New Look that will take you to the same place. :-)) )
P.S. To get back to the "OLD Fulford Saga Home Page" select "OLD SAGA" Country."
