FIRST TIME VISITOR INFORMATION
COUNTRY: Since this site purports to be the home for all Fulfords around the world, it is only logical that many countries be covered. Therefore, this section allows you to determine in which country you will be looking up information. The default is the United States of America. You may change to another country at any time. When you change, you will be brought to the "home" page in the selected country. You will remain in that country until you select another. Clicking on the down-arrow will pop up a menu of countries/continents to choose from. Currently, not all countries/continents have information. We would appreciate your assistance in helping us put some "meat" on these "bones".
RESEARCH CENTER: This section contains disjointed pieces of information such as vital statistics, wills, sources, etc. Another place to look for vital statistics is within the Family Trees section. The Research Center generally does not show an individual's relationship to all the other family members. Generally, the information in this section is country specific. This information has been gleaned from records at courthouses, NARA, BLM, cemeteries, newspapers, museums, and all the other normal sources for genealogical information and much has been supplied by contributors. In some cases, copies of actual records are available. Clicking on the down-arrow will pop up a menu of sub-sections to choose from.
Births/Marriages/Deaths are abstracts from vital statistics records found in various places such as courthouses, social security lists, etc.
Obituaries are death notices found in newspapers, supplied by contributors, etc.
Wills are abstracts from records found in various places such as courthouses and supplied by contributors.
Census information may be abstracts from such places as a Census Index, actual Census pages, or supplied by contributors.
Court Proceedings are abstracts from court records and information supplied by contributors. These proceedings could be anything that caused a Fulford descendant to appear in court from being a witness to being a party in a civil or criminal case.
Land Transactions are abstracts from courthouses, the BLM, NARA, submissions by contributors, etc. of the sales/purchases of property by Fulfords.
Tax Records are abstracts of tax records from courthouses, NARA, contributors, etc.
Cemeteries are recordings of grave markers in cemeteries where Fulford descendants and/or their spouses are buried. This information my come from personal field trips, cemetery records, contributors, etc.
Biographies is about individual Fulford descendants. This is information other than that which might be considered "historical" in nature. It could be a link to an individual's home page, a link to a page containing information about an individual or something the individual did, or it might be just a short one line note about an individual. It could reference living Fulfords or long deceased Fulfords. Information may come from personal knowledge, publications, contributors, "normal" genealogical records, etc.
Businesses is about businesses with which the Fulford name is associated. Mostly links to home pages of such businesses.
Publications is a listing of publications by/about Fulfords. We have found many of these publications especially helpful in our own research. We own many of them.
Researchers is a listing of contributors to the Fulford Saga. We recognize that there may be others who are researching their Fulford line who have not contributed to the Fulford Saga, but we feel we would like to make special recognition to those serious (and some not so serious) researchers who are willing to freely share their information with the rest of us. :-))
Miscellaneous is the "catch-all" for tidbits we couldn't quite classify in any of the above categories.

Miscellaneous is the "catch-all" for tidbits we couldn't quite classify in any of the above categories.
COMMUNICATIONS CENTER: This section contains various ways for Fulfords to communicate with one another including addresses, queries, etc. Other than for the White Pages, this section is generic across all countries. The White Pages is country specific. Clicking on the down-arrow will pop up a menu of sub-sections to choose from.
GenConnect/GenForum are two forum sites that we have found to be extremely valuable in getting leads on family genealogical information. Both sites offer groupings by Surname, Country, State, County, etc.
White Pages is a listing of Fulford descendant names/addresses by state, province, county, etc.
E-mailis a listing of email addresses of Fulford Descendants.
ICQ/AOL are links to our ICQ/AOL communications sites. They allow you to communicate (via chat or instant message service) with us and with other Fulford descendants who have signed up with ICQ and/or AOL. Both are free services.
Submit Info links to a page that will allow you to submit info for inclusion on the Fulford Saga. This is a free-form screen so it can be used for any type of data you wish to submit. We do require that you include your name and email address on any submission.
Mailing List links to a page describing the Fulford mailing list (a free service) and how to subscribe.
FAMILY TREES: This section contains a number of family trees for Fulfords and allied families. This data is country specific. However, we find some individuals moved from one country to another. In those cases we have tried to indicate that the user should look in another tree to continue the ancestor/descendant path. We have also, in the case of very large trees, split off some individuals who moved and established family lines in different states/provinces, into separate trees. Again, we have tried to indicate that the user should look in another tree to continue the ancestor/descendant path. This section is sub-divided as follows:
Saga Trees - these are family trees officially allied with the Fulford Saga. They may be built and maintained by the Saga or they may have been contributed to the Saga by others.
Links are links to other family tree sites containing Fulfords.
Misc contains many short unconnected family trees of 1 to 3/4 generations submitted by contributors or gleaned from publications, etc.
Carteret Families - trees of Carteret County, North Carolina, families. No Fulfords. This is included because our roots are deep in this area and because somewhere along the way, there is very probably a connection between these families and the Fulfords.
Allied Families contains trees of families allied with the Fulfords.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: This section contains notices about upcoming events such as reunions, weddings, graduations, etc. It also contains notices of honors, awards, and recognition received by Fulfords. This section is generic across all countries.
FULFORD HOME: The first page of the Fulford Saga.
RIPPLES HOME: The jumping off place for all our genealogical sites. It is also the repository of certain features that are shared by all our genealogical sites.
UPDATE LIST: This page shows the latest updates to the Fulford Saga, indicating which pages were added/changed and what the changes were. So when you come to the site and you see that it has been updated since your last visit (or you received notification from MindIt of an update), you can come to this section to find out just what part/parts were updated since your last visit. Please note: This list will be purged periodically so that only "x" most current updates will be shown. The frequency of purging will be governed by the frequency of updates! :-)
CLEANUP FRAMES: Sometimes sites that use frames do not allow you to get away from their frames and sometimes you may wind up with frames within frames. Therefore, this option has been included to help you get rid of those frames, at least while you are visiting this site. Clicking on this link will take you to the home page for whatever country you are working in and should remove any frames from other sites.
MAIL: This is the place for you to send us your comments about the site and/or suggestions for improvement. We regret that we can not answer your specific questions regarding your particular research. We are responsible for the maintenance of 5-6 web pages and that keeps us pretty busy. Please post your queries to one of the forums/bulletin boards recommended in the Communications Center section. We try to periodically capture the information on these forums and post it in some logical order on this site. If we all use the same forums, we will greatly reduce the number of places we have to look for information!
GUESTBOOK: This will take you to the Fulford Saga Guestbook, which is generic across all countries. You may either view what others have written, or you may sign the guestbook yourself. We would very much appreciate your signing our guestbook at some point in time. We always check out this book periodically. Signing the guestbook also alerts other Fulford researchers to your existence and gives them a way to get in touch with you.
SURNAME WEB: This is a web site dedicated to bringing together in one spot a listing of all the web sites pertaining to specific surnames.
BOOKSTORE: The Family Legacy Bookstore. The place to go to purchase your genealogy (and other) books. Linking from The Family Legacy Bookstore to purchase your books helps with the financing of this site. All purchases made this way will be greatly appreciated.
ANCESTRY We have found this to be a very good site for obtaining information. The site offers some free databases. Although a large number of databases require you to purchase membership in order to view them, you can at least see how many references there are to names you may be interested in. This will aid you in determining whether or not you would like to become a member.
GENEALOGY LINKS This will take you to the page containing links to various generic type genealogy pages we have found to be helpful in one way or another. These are NOT links to Fulford pages. Links to Fulford pages will be found under the Links page in the Communications Section.
We have tried to make movement around this site as easy and as simple as possible. However, we are always open to suggestions. Some definitions may be in order:
